Our Polar Express Family Night!

started out our family night by letting R open an "early Christmas present", which was the movie Polar Express. He absolutely loves movies...so he was really excited about this.
Daddy went to pick up some pizza to eat while watching our new movie.
Before the movie was over...I snuck into R's room and put a golden ticket just like the one in the movie on his bed and one on A's bed too.

After the movie was over, we told R that it was bedtime. Go to bed and we'd be in there to read to him in a minute. He ran into his room and stood there with his mouth WIDE open! He said "WHAT IS THIS??"

I got several pictures of him which are blurry from him waving his arms so excited. This one isn't though..

Then he got his first cup of HOT CHOCOLATE!! (Just like in the movie)

When it came time to load into the "Honda Express" to go search for lights, he had to give his ticket to the "Conductor" (Daddy) and he hole punched a letter "R" in his ticket. (Again, like in the movie!)

We had so much fun on our Polar Express Family Night!! We drove around and admired the lights. There were some houses that out did themselves. I have to say, I was disappointed that more people didn't participate in decorating for Christmas. We went on a few streets where there was not even one light! Couldn't believe it! Oh well. R is at the age that ANY lights he sees is amazing to him! Daddy has taught R well--there were several homes that had lit up deer in their yards...and he would pretend to shoot them and say "I got those deer, Daddy!"
Our family chooses not to do "Santa". We don't want our children think that we ever lied to them and start questioning if Jesus was real. My husband's family wasn't raised doing Santa and doesn't feel like they missed out. Anyway, after trying my hardest to keep everything a surprise and make it as fun as possible for the boys....I can see how it would be fun to do the magic of "Santa" and would be easy to really get into that!
